Savvy retailers understand that customers can be fickle, and know that they must continually be refreshing their marketing approach. Traditional forms of advertising are sometimes not enough when the competition is high – you need to give your customers something extra. Here are some marketing ideas to help you give back to your customers, and help you stand out from your competitors.
Create a useful item for your customers.
Give your customers something they can use and hang onto. This will ensure they keep your business name or logo in the forefront of their mind. For example, you could create a calendar for customers with your shop’s name and address on it. You can also distribute specialty products such as pens, mouse pads, or mugs with your logo.
Use your business cards effectively.
With every product or service sale, enclose your printed business card with the receipt or in the bag. You might even offer a small trifling free gift which has your business card enclosed – for example, chocolates at Valentines day or Easter.
Promote yourself with gift certificates.
This is a great way to get referrals from your existing customers. Every customer you get will at one stage or another, need to give someone a gift. By offering gift cards to your customers, you’re giving them the idea to refer your business onto their friend, but they think they’re just buying a present.
Use your employees to help you market.
You can do this easily by providing free t-shirts with your logo to your staff to wear, or by offering some incentive to your employees if they refer you.
Host a special event or product launch party.
There are a variety of ways that you can draw potential clients to your business. It could be something like an after-hours gathering for your employees and their friends/relatives, or someone else’s event that you sponsor or host. Make sure to stock up on promotional items that can be taken home by your guests, like promotional products, brochures and business cards. If it’s a launch party, make sure everyone gets a product (or a sample) to keep.
