One of the most important aspects of your website design is your Call to Action (CTA).
Every page of your small business website should be designed around your business objective and that objective should be clearly defined in your CTA.
3 Reasons Why You Need CTAs
1. Directs the User
Sometimes your customer may not have a clear understanding of what they should do with the information you’ve provided them. A clear call to action tells the audience exactly what they should do next – and it doesn’t have to be sales related. Call to actions can include a range of directives such as:
- Sign up for a free trial
- Watch our Demo
- Download your Free eBook now
- Subscribe to our newsletter
2. Measures Your Success
Measuring the number of visitors coming to your site vs. the number of people who are accepting your call to action (conversions) will help you judge the success of your site and highlight where improvements might need to be made.
3. Makes Your Objectives Clear
Call to actions allow you to make your objectives clear, not only to yourself, but to the visitor too.
How to Write a Call to Action
Be Direct – Use short sentences and include action words like Subscribe, Buy, Call or Download. Instead of saying ‘please consider registering for our email newsletter’ say ‘Subscribe to our Newsletter today’.
Make it Easy – Whatever you’re asking your audience to do, make it as easy as possible for them to follow through. If you want them to email you, make sure the word email is a clickable link that automatically opens an email with your address. Want them to call you? Make sure your number is right there. Don’t make someone hunt for it.
Be Consistent – The chances of conversion increase when your visitor always has access to your call to action, so make sure your CTA is on every page of your website and – that it’s in the same position.
